Just a short walk

Just a short walk from here is the old road that people use to have to take to get up to the star. This road runs from right behind the welcome center up on Mill Mountain. If you find it or have ever been on it you will see how tiny it is but just keep in mind that cars drove up it and it was a 2 way street. SCARY!

Once walking down the beautiful scenic road, you begin to see signs from a distant past. Like this amazing staircase that is still part of the mountain right on the side of the road. Where they led to or even what memories they still hold, we may never know but it is fun to look at them and image who may have walked up and down them.

A little further down from those stairs is one of the two switchbacks that you use to have to drive through and over. This is the first one you encounter when walking down from the top. You walk over the top and then curve around to go under. These are small, as is the road and to image what is would have been like to be in a car going up or down - no thanks, I'll stick to walking.
